Dinh Cau Seafood Market

If you’re a seafood fan, the Dinh Cau Night Market is my holy grail of seafood. There are many pop-up style restaurants side by side but for us, Quan Mien Trung has proven to provide the freshest food with the best variety and they’re very flexible about seasonings and sauces.
In addition to the standard offerings from the ocean, there are things on the menu that I still don’t understand (what is blood cockle or a bailer shell?) and things on display that I don’t want to know about (but they are pretty!). Our average order is generally something like… sautéed shrimp, scallops with garlic butter and shallots, barbecued octopus, morning glory and garlic bread (it’s so good!) and with a few beers and a bottle of wine, it costs around 600,000 (that’s VND so about A$35). I would also recommend the red emperor served with garlic – it’s delicious.
Service at Quan Mien Trung is friendly and patient, they’re happy to answer endless questions! Staff at most of the restaurants in the market seem welcoming and in the end, which one you choose will probably come down to seeing something you like in the display.
