Last night’s dinner at Restaurant 328 was a terrific surprise. We were warmly welcomed, quickly made comfortable and drinks were prompt. From the road, it looks like many other restaurants on Cua Dai Street but when the food arrived it was clear that they put as much care into their cooking as their hospitality.

What a lovely surprise! We wandered past Nhan’s Kitchen on one of our morning walks and found them setting up for their first day of trade after the Tet celebrations. At first glance, it looks like a little like a neighbourhood trattoria specialising in pizza/pasta/western food but after hearing about the Vietnamese specials we decided to return that night for dinner.

Polished but comfortable with a clever menu and professional yet friendly service – that was my impression of Canvas. We sat at the bar to take advantage of the ‘entertainment’ of the working kitchen and while there were no Gordon Ramsay style fireworks, it was interesting to watch the team operating so seamlessly.
