I usually only pop in to stock up on supplies but stopped for a coffee today and was pleasantly surprised. I like mine strong and even though I always order a double shot, it can still come out weak. Not so here – plenty of strength for me. It also had great flavour and a good temperature (which can be difficult to find) so I’ll definitely do it again.

Any restaurant housed in an iconic building such as the Sydney Opera House could easily fall victim to it’s own hype so I was sceptical but for me, this is definitely not the case with Cured & Cultured at Bennelong. Possibly even more indicative, I’ve never been a huge fan of Peter Gilmore’s Quay (first experience was shocking so it took me a few years to try again and second experience was pleasant but I still wouldn’t rate it as highly as some).

I’m a fan of the Argentinian grill style and these guys do it superbly. The standout dish for me is the lamb and it’s so good it makes onto the ‘best ever’ list. Having said that, every dish we had was first class including the non-meat dishes which can often lack class in a meat-focussed restaurant.

Flavours are great. Both the sobrasada and jamon are lovely quality, the bbq squid is delicious with just the right amount of resistance and meatballs are tasty. The disappointment for me is the paella – it’s normally one of my favourite meals but this version didn’t rate for me. I found it way too moist, not enough flavour and no skin on the bottom.

I’ve dined at The Grand on a number of occasions and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is more wintery being an inside/dark-ish vibe but during those colder months, it’s perfect for those who want good food without the fuss.

Great wings, nice selection of refreshments (even for those who aren’t into beer!). A very simple concept though so will be interesting to see if it can maintain interest. Personally I feel that it’s more of a summer place (not overly cosy for winter) but others might see if differently. Hope they continue to evolve.

Perfect place for afternoon drinks in the winter sunshine! Terrific food, lots of options for small things or something more substantial but I’ve also popped in a few times now just for drinks. Definitely worth a stop.

Barrio definitely has it all. The constantly changing menu of tapas dishes never disappoints and it’s so difficult to choose favourites – prawns, meatballs, lamb… even the salads are amazing. Service is always friendly and efficient. Value for money is excellent.

We were shocked to see that our favourite French bakery was a burnt out mess when we returned in June however, when driving back towards Choeng Mon, we spotted some baguettes and pulled over thinking they might be an ok substitute – they were not a substitute, they’re the real thing!

No research behind this meal but it was one of the nicest we had in Seoul. We had been walking past for a few days and decided to give it a try. Service was friendly and the food was delicious! The pork belly was one of the best we’ve had. They also had a lovely selection of wines and the biggest surprise came at with the bill – terrific value!
