Read MorePolished but comfortable with a clever menu and professional yet friendly service – that was my impression of Canvas. We sat at the bar to take advantage of the ‘entertainment’ of the working kitchen and while there were no Gordon Ramsay style fireworks, it was interesting to watch the team operating so seamlessly.
Read MoreLocated down a long (100 metres), dark and narrow alley, carrying luggage in/out isn’t easy but the neighbours are friendly and it does have loads of local character. It’s in a terrific spot, close to everything and it can be a little noisy but it is a residential area in a big city so it wasn’t so bad for us. Except for the rooster!
Read MoreGreat vibe, super friendly and comfortable – Havana Cafe is a terrific little spot for lunch (it’s shaded!), afternoon drinks or a nightcap on the way home. Food is great particularly the Cuban but the tapas plates are also a nice change if you’re looking for something other than Vietnamese food.

Our stay at Azumi Villas was the later. We stayed for a considerable time and there was not one single negative about Azumi. In fact, the property and the staff exceeded our expectations on all occasions.

Read MorePassed by a few times and it was always full so we decided to give it a try – delicious food and lovely service, so much so that we went twice during our stay. Initially we had BBQ pork and salad and BBQ chicken and sizzling rice, and on the second visit, caramelised fish in claypot and sizzling rice with pork and egg.

If the destination is Asia, air conditioning is a must but I also love a ceiling fan so I can use the air only when it’s really necessary.
