We read mixed reviews before booking but decided to proceed anyway and were glad we did. It was a little difficult to find but once inside, we were greeted with delightful service, lovely atmosphere and delicious food. Having experienced degustation menus many times, I’m not always a fan but we went with the tasting menu and loved every dish.

Location is terrific for business, shopping, dining, sightseeing. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was terrific. Rooms are pleasant although we had a room with a door joining another and the young family in there were quite noisy. I suspect that wouldn’t be so much of a problem if there was no joining door.

We went to Fiji for a friends wedding and we had a wonderful trip however, if I were to visit Fiji again (and that’s a big IF), I wouldn’t stay at the Outrigger on the Lagoon next time. For me, it’s too far from anything. I prefer to get out of the resort a little more and with the exception of a couple of ‘cafes’ down the beach road (one we were told not to go to!), it’s all about the resort experience.

Just around the corner from Big Buddha on Tongsai Road, this newcomer is a great roadside stop for locals and those sightseeing.

This restaurant has changed name to Father Restaurant. Still excellent food & service! Stand out dishes include black pepper & garlic fish, pork jerky (deep fried pork strips), crispy wontons, tod mun goong (a bit like popcorn shrimp!) and all vegetable dishes.

We have visited Dining on The Rocks on a number of occasions and our latest visit did not disappoint. Previously, we sampled ‘the experience’ which was unique and highly recommended. This time we decided to have smaller meal so we chose the five course degustation without the matching wines (we prefer reds only).

Usually we save our ‘fine’ dining for the big cities but we drive past The Larder often on our way to Chaweng so it was time to give it a go – very glad we did! The food was fresh & innovative, a good selection available & serves were decent. I didn’t have room for dessert, cheese or the peanut butter margarita but I will make time to go back soon for all! I wouldn’t class The Larder as fine dining but for Samui, I think it’s a lovely addition.

We have been visiting Noori for a number of years and the food has always been excellent – tasty, beautifully spiced, generous serves. Wherever we travel (including India!), this has become our benchmark for delicious Indian food. The location is central in Chaweng, the decor is no-fuss and the staff are lovely. We’ve recommended this restaurant to many people over the years and never had a bad report.

We’ve stayed at a number of Six Senses properties and Evason Hua Hin did not disappoint. We were collected promptly from our stay in Bangkok and transferred in comfort. Upon checkin, we found the pool villa we were allocated did not receive much of a breeze (maynot be a problem at a different time of year) so upgraded to a beachfront pool villa and enjoyed the resulting sea breezes and a lovely view.

This is our second stay at Sea Star and we weren’t disappointed. At US$75 per night, the bungalows on the beach are excellent value for money and ideal for two groups as there are two in each building and the balcony opens up to one shared space. The location is perfect – just out of town but still walking distance, taxis are available but motorbikes are also handy for seeing the island.
